Tombol "Retweet" Menghilang dari Android dan iOS

KOMPAS.com - Selain memperkenalkan fitur photo tagging dan merombak halaman profile di platform iOS, Twitter ternyata juga melakukan uji coba mengganti tombol sakralnya selama ini, yaitu tombol Retweet.

Beberapa pengguna Twitter di platform Android dan iOS seperti dilaporkan The Next Web(26/3/2014) menemui bahwa tombol Retweet di aplikasi mobile mereka telah berubah namanya menjadi "Share with followers".

Metode baru dalam berbagi kicauan yang diperkenalkan Twitter memang tetap sama, hanya saja pengguna kini disuguhi pertanyaan apakah mereka ingin membagikan (share) saja atau juga akan memberi komen, fungsi yang mirip dengan fitur Quote.

Istilah "Share" yang digunakan Twitter juga menuai kritik dari penggunanya, salah satunya adalah akun milik jurnalis CNBC, Eli Langer yang mengatakan bahwa lama kelamaan Twitter menjadi semakin mirip dengan rivalnya, Facebook.

Dampak yang ditimbulkan dari penggantian tombol Retweet ini bisa berbeda dibanding perubahan dalam tampilan halaman Profile. Sebab, istilah Retweet sudah sangat populer dan menjadi ciri khas pengguna Twitter dibanding yang lain.

Twitter dan Facebook memang sudah lama saling meniru fitur yang disajikan. Sebelumnya, Facebook juga mengadopsi fungsi follow dan hashtag yang dimiliki Twitter dalam aplikasinya. Sementara itu, Twitter baru-baru ini menampilkan halaman Profile yang tata letaknya mirip dengan gaya Facebook.

Sementara menurut Gizmodo (26/3/2014), munculnya protes atas perubahan yang dilakukan Twitter tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pengguna jejaring sosial 140 karakter tersebut tidak ingin disamakan dengan pengguna Facebook. Mereka juga tak ingin memiliki pengalaman menggunakan Twitter layaknya Facebook.

Dikutip dari The Inquirer, Little Big Disk yang diumumkan pada awal pekan ini diklaim sebagai media penyimpanan eksternal terkencang di dunia. Kecepatan transfer datanya terbilang fantastis, yaitu mencapai 1.375 MB per detik. 

Dalam konfigurasi paralel, dengan dua koneksi Thunderbolt 2 paralel ke komputer Apple Mac Pro, angka itu bisa ditingkatkan hampir dua kali lipat menjadi 2.600 MB per detik. Data sebesar 1TB (1.000 GB) pun bisa ditransfer dalam waktu kurang dari tujuh menit.

Rahasia kecepatan Little Big Disk terletak pada jenis media yang digunakannya. Perangkatexternal storage ini tidak mengandalkan harddisk biasa, tetapi sepasang solid state drive(SSD) 500 GB dalam konfigurasi RAID 0. 

Kedua SSD menghasilkan kapasitas total sebesar 1TB (500 GB + 500 GB) dan tersambung ke interface PCIe berkecepatan tinggi. Koneksi ke komputer dilakukan melalui kabel Thunderbolt 2.
